Dressing With My Mommy Pooch
The good news is I have lost all of my pregnancy weight and I probably weigh less than I did before I got pregnant. The bad news is, the mommy pooch remains. Boo!
Note to self: Add core strengthening exercises to my cardio heavy workout (a.k.a. The Couch to 5k program) or perhaps just save up for a tummy tuck?:p
Anyway, considering that I'm not exactly a swimsuit model, a mommy pooch can easily be remedied with the right style of clothes. Common sense dictates that stomach baring tops are out, and the same goes for tight shirts, unless you want to suck in your stomach for hours on end. The most flattering tops for me to hide my mommy pooch, without looking as if I want to hide my mommy pooch, are slouchy dolman-type blouses like these beauties from Elin.
Pair them with skinny jeans, short-shorts or a mini skirt to offset the slouchiness (and to show off your gams, because legs hardly ever get fat).
This cowl-neck top is also a great wardrobe addition, whether or not you're dealing with a doughy midsection.
And in case you're newly pregnant or hope to become pregnant soon, I highly suggest stocking up on jersey tops or rayon spandex in similar styles because you can wear them pre, during and post pregnancy. How's that for bang for your buck? Forget about buying maternity clothes, those are usually overpriced anyway and have a limited lifespan. Instead, think of multi-tasking clothing that will help you stretch your budget, because giving birth and providing for your baby are already enough of a budget drain as it is.
