Aside from the free food, one of the perks of attending events is the goody bag chock-full of, well, goodies. And the Dove goody bag from their latest campaign did not disappoint. It contained several items from their three current lines (Moisturizing, Exfoliating and Moisture Fresh) as well as a shirt, notebook and a mousepad. Among the the three lines, I was most curious over the exfoliating body wash and soap because I've read enough magazine articles that extol the virtues of exfoliation, as well as detoxification, so I always automatically reach for anything that promises such results (note to potential advertisers).
You know that 5%-10% extra that stores add on whenever you use your credit card? Well that has just been categorically declared as illegal. Here's what the Department of Trade and Industry has to say about that:
THE Department of Trade and Industry has ordered a ban on surcharges on retail transactions using credit cards, debit cards and automated teller machine cards, starting Nov. 5. The new policy is part of a campaign to protect consumers from unfair trade practices, Trade and Industry Secretary Peter Favila said. Favila has issued Department Administrative Order No. 10, which prohibits any surcharge, extra or additional charge over and above the price tag on items purchased using cards for payment.
