I may be grossly generalizing here, but when it comes to doing things well, the Japanese have everyone else beat. I love watching Japanese documentaries on NHK and I'm always astounded at the dedication and attention to detail that they shower on their craft. And this drive towards perfection also manifests in their cosmetics.
Take the Fairydrops Volume Burst Mascara for example. Instead of the usual flat, comb applicator, it comes with a bubble type wand called Three Teardrop Wand, that's designed to catch even the tiniest of lashes and push them up for a pronounced curl.
The diagram at the back implies that the mascara can already add curl to your lashes by itself, but I decided to curl my lashes just the same with a lash curler, and hours and hours later, the curl is still there, with no smudging under my eyes to boot.
I like how 2 coats immediately add volume to my sparse lashes and considering how thick my lashes got, it's interesting how my lashes didn't get crunchy or brittle even if I piled on the mascara.
This is the first time I've heard of a water resistant mascara and had to do some googling to find out what its difference was with a waterproof mascara. Apparently, water resistant means that water will not soak through right away, while waterproof means that no water will ever get in.
When it comes to mascara, the water resistant type is easier to remove, coming clean with merely soap and water. While a waterproof mascara needs a specialized cleanser to get it off your lashes.
Personally, I always thought that I needed a waterproof mascara to outlast my oily skin, but surprise, surprise, the water resistant Volume Burst Mascara (Film Type) didn't smudge or run on me even well into the night. Of course, it might be a totally different story altogether if I stood under the rain while wearing it. But why would I do that? I'm long past my emo days and now relish all things vapid and shallow (like really!).
SRP is pricey at Php950 but if you're into getting fat and thick lashes, then I'm sure you wouldn't mind splurging on a tube or two of this beauty.
