I don't usually make birthday loot posts because, as much as I love my family, they're not really known for giving fabulous and well-thought of gifts (i.e. for the longest time, my mom would gift us with swag from medicine companies:p). But take note that it's not something that I wail over, rather, it's just something that I have come to accept in my very own Addam's Family. That's why it continues to floor me to no end when my hubby gifts me with something so unbelievably thoughtful. And my birthday was no exception.
For a gift to be fabulous in my book, it doesn't have to be jaw-droppingly expensive, it may be cliche but really, it's the thought that counts. I don't wear a watch because I have my cellphone for that and I think the last time I wore a watch (which incidentally was only borrowed from my father) was when I was taking the Bar exam because I couldn't bring my cellphone inside the exam room.
The last watch I owned was a turquoise and bright pink number with two fat monks chasing a ball on the dial, and I wore it from 6th grade to 2nd year of high school. This time around, there were no cavorting monks in my new hubby gifted watch from Tissot, just elegant black leather straps attached to a silver dial.
Unfortunately, we have to bring the watch back to Rustan's because it stopped working after only a few hours of use. I think the battery died out or something, which is such a fail considering that the warranty card clearly shows that it was purchased on April 3, 2012. Ang labo niyo Rustan's.
Anyway, moving on to happier thoughts. My New Zealand based sister sent me some of her traditional OFW remittances early this week! Usually only the kids benefit from her remittances, but she sent some over my way for my birthday. And so I will use her birthday money to subsidize a new pair of Florence brogues from Anthology Shoes.
The pair will be pulled out from the store by next week and will then be shipped to me, and I'm crossing my fingers that nothing untoward will happen from the time the stores opened today to the time of pull-out (read: no one will beat me to it!).
This is my peg for my new brogues, nothing costumey or contrived, just good old classic pieces with a pair of proudly Philippine made brogues.
And that was this year's birthday haul. I can't believe the super long weekend is coming to a close soon. Ugh.
