Strip It! Meets Nanny Rose

The last time I made a post on Nanny Rose Sticks and Pulls, most of the commenters suggested that I also try Strip It! and so when I saw it in Sesou, I immediately picked a tub.

Strip It! Hair Removal Sugaring comes in 3 sizes and I got the smaller one in 100g for Php165. The sugaring kit comes with two strips of felt, a large applicator stick and instructions.

Comparisons between Nanny Rose and Strip It! are inevitable because they both come in cold wax form (although Nanny Rose can also be used heated) and are both made from all-natural ingredients.

I like Nanny Rose's cloth strips better for the simple reason that they're already pre-cut (even if the edges tend to fray), while Strip It! provided long felt strips that still needed to be cut into pieces. As regards efficacy, they both seem to work equally well, so there's no issue about that.

Strip It! has a clear edge over Nanny Rose when it comes to viscosity because the former is more syrupy and easier to spread on skin than Nanny Rose, which has a tendency to be too thick. However, I'm told that Nanny Rose works better after it is nuked for a few seconds.

When it comes to availability, Nanny Rose has the upper hand because it is available in all Watson's outlets nationwide, while Strip It! has a more cultish feel to it, being only available through their website, resellers and Sesou.

My biggest problem with Nanny Rose though is that after a few weeks, the formula lost its viscosity, obtaining a marmalade-like texture with gritty bits suspended in the mixture. I asked Andrea of Nanny Rose about this and she said that this was because they didn't use any binders in their formula so the sugar and whatnot tend to crystallize. The quick and easy solution is to expose it to heat for a few seconds. Unfortunately, we don't have a microwave oven so I had to throw out my half-finished tub of wax. Sadness.

I'm hoping that I won't encounter the same thing with Strip It!. Crossing my fingers.

sayang! I have tried both strip it and nanny rose and even made my own batch of sugar wax. I prefer nanny rose though. It's easier to find, although the cloth strip, frays at the edges, strip-it's felt cloth "ay naghihimulmol" after a few uses. Also, its easier to remove the hair from nanny rose's cloth strips.
What I don't like about nanny rose's is their itty bitty spatula. You have to get used to it if you started with strip it.

I got a new sticks and pulls wax from nanny rose. They sent me one. Anyway, I'm sure you'll love this one for it's so easy to use!

Yup, haven't had any problems with Strip It. Just hoping that the crystallizing/marmalading issue I had with Nanny Rose won't happen here too.

But someone suggested that I can dunk the tub in bowl of hot water to melt the sugar bits, so I'll try that if the same thing happens.

oops,  I forgot to say that- yes, you can let the tub stand in hot water for about 5-10min and its ready to go. I also did this with strip it because it really makes the wax easier to spread- which means mas tipid haha. Don't try away that tub!

I just saw my old tub of Nanny Rose's and I just blasted my hair dryer on it this morning and it worked fine. :)
