Totally Charmed with Charm Brush

By Jillsabs - Posted on 20 July 2010

While the cheapskate in me can't imagine spending a bundle on makeup, I totally see the point in shelling out a little more than average on makeup brushes. Try applying makeup with the wrong brush, or worse, a scratchy brush and you'll get what I mean about investing in good makeup brushes.

Before, investing in makeup brushes meant plunking down an almost obscene amount of money just to have the appropriate tools. No wonder a lot of women had to settle for the no name department store brands. But now, there are mid-priced brushes that hardly compromise on quality. Leading the pack with its reasonably priced, yet very, very competitive collection is Charm Brushes from Beauty & Minerals.

Meet my newest makeup brush, the Luxe Flat Top Brush from Charm.

I use it to apply mineral makeup, as well as my MAC Studio Fix for touch-ups (sadly, MMU is just not portable), because the brush seems to deposit the powder more evenly than the accompanying puff.

The bristles feel velvety soft, and it's almost sinful how good it feels against my skin AND the brush handle is a very pretty pink! I don't mean to play favorites, but it's quite difficult not to with such a lovely brush.

I need to find a plastic protector for it though, so I can stash it inside my kikay kit without fear of germs and bacteria induced irritations. I hope such an animal (the plastic protector, not bacteria) is available in SM or Watson's.

Anyway, here's one last look at the beauty.

P.S. The Luxe Flat Top Brush retails for Php600 and is available at the Beauty & Minerals website.

Hi, I think you can buy brush guard for this from Suesh. Still contemplating on buying this and the new travel brush set but with your review plus Liz Lanuzo's and AMW I think I'm going to get one =)

how do you clean them? I bought a set of charm brushes a while back. I've stopped using coz I'm scared they might be filled with germs.

Hi Chie,

I wash my brushes with Johnson's baby shampoo. Here's a link on how to clean makeup brushes: http://www.ehow.com/how_3175_clean-makeup-brushes.html

Is it as soft as Everyday Minerals flat top? Mine is about to give way and I need a replacement soon. Any other brush recommendations that's as good as EDM?

Hi Esquire,
I haven't used EDM flat top, although I have used their other brushes. Except for the kabuki brush, all my other EDM brushes became stiff after a while, but "after a while" really means 2-3 years and considering how reasonable the price was and I got them virtually free by buying the sets, I think it's still a good deal :)
I'm not sure how the Charm flat top brush will perform in the long haul, but for now, it's very, very soft.

What a pretty brush! I use the Ellana brushes myself. They're super soft and a little cheaper than this, but certainly not as cute, haha!

Hi Lizz,

I haven't tried Ellana brushes yet, but I'm definitely going to check them out! Thanks for the tip!
