Mario Badescu Eye Make-Up Remover Gel

Check out these Eye Make-Up Remover Gel sample pots I received as gifts with purchase (GWP) from Rustan's when I bought a Mario Badescu toner months ago.

First things first, I have to mention how I had to ask if there were GWPs after I made it clear to the sales attendant that I intended to buy the toner. I think it's sad that our department stores, even those as sosi as Rustan's, do not automatically load you up with GWPs or samples. Is this another third-world thing? :(

But let's move on to nicer things, that being the Eye Make-Up Remover Gel itself. This stuff works like a dream! It effectively removes all traces of mascara, eyeshadow and eyeliner without any unnecessary tugging and pulling.
I usually get a pea-sized amount of gel, pat it all over my lid and then gently rub it in. After a few seconds, I swipe the gel away with a wet cottonball.

The cottonball reveals a smudgy mess and by this time, my eye area is spotless once again and all is right with the world.
Two things I don't like about it though: (1) It stings like crazy if it gets in your eye! So you'd better make sure that everything you need is within reach once you start using it because you're literally operating with one eye, and in my case a blurry eye, open. (2) It has a synthetic waxy smell that made me wrinkle my nose more than once.
I wasn't able to check how much the full pot costs in Rustan's but it retails for $6/$10 (2 oz/4 oz) in the Mario Badescu website so I think it's safe to say that it will be 50%-100% more expensive when it reaches our sunny shores.
I still have several makeup reviews lined up in the next few weeks so do watch out for those! Enjoy your day!
P.S.
What do you guys use to remove your eye makeup? I'm thinking of buying one because my beloved Cetaphil falls short in removing mascara and eye liner. Suggestions will be very much appreciated :)

cetaphil doesnt work? try A LOT of cetaphil.
i put a whole lot in my palms and then put them on my eyelids and keep it on for about 20-30 seconds and that works on cg lash blast mascara and fashion 21 liquid liner :)
clinique take the day off make-up remover also works pretty well.
Hi Rich,
I think I'll do just that :) Thanks for the advice!
Skin Food Gel Eye Make-up Remover works for me. I have tried almost all locally available make up remover and nothing beats Skin Food for totally removing water proof mascara. Oils are too heavy and do not come off easily with cetaphil. but skin food does.
I just want to share what i use in removing not only eye make-up but also all the products I put on my face such as foundation, face powder, blush-on, etc. I use nivea visage cleansing milk make up remover....it does wonders for me! and it works two ways: one, as a make up remover, I apply it on my face using my fingers and then wipe it off with a soft tissue or cotton ball....or two, as a deep cleanser, apply on wet face and massage into skin, rinse off after. The 200mL bottle costs about Php 250.00 plus.
Uy! Victoria!!! Nice to see you here:)
Thanks so much for all the tips!
I will try out all the recommended products that I readily have on hand now, starting with the Human Nature makeup remover :)
my ophtha suggested that i use baby shampoo to wash off my eye make-up & eyelashes to prevent stye. i've been doing that ever since & have been stye - free! :)
Baby oil. Only about 60php a bottle... works ALL the time :)
Olive oil, gentle, conditions skin and lashes. Super cheap:-)
Good old Ponds Cold Cream. I obviously don't wear eye makeup that often - i'm not even sure if Ponds cold cream is available in the market. But I got samples of Estee Lauder, it was nice too.. medyo 'frothy' and doesn't sting at all
To remove eye makeup, I use Johnson's baby oil lite. It's cheap and doesn't feel as heavy as the regular baby oil.
Human Heart Nature also has a Sunflower Seed Oil which is organic and also claims to lessen eye wrinkles. It's a bit heavy though. It retails for around P100 per 50ml bottle.
I also use the Human Heart Nature facial makeup remover. It's not greasy and is perfect in removing a day's worth of makeup and dirt.
I use L'oreal gentle lip and eye makeup remover. It's very effective! Retails at P375, if I remember correctly. :)
Clems, I use Mandom Express Cleansing Water, it doesn't sting. Problem is, this is not available locally. (If you buy this in HK, I think around P400 lang for a bottle)
DHC Deep Cleansing Oil also works so well, but again, not available locally. (less than P1000 for a bottle if bought in HK, lasts a looooong time) I can give you some sample sachets, you want? :)
I want! I want!
I'm not much of a make-up person, because my skin is very sensitive. I only wear make-up for special occasions- and even then I can't wear it too long or else my skin will break-out. So once I get home, I make sure every once of make-up is gone! What I use is petroleum jelly. It's very effective! Try it.
i use Human <3 Nature eye make-up remover :)
i think it's organic so it's supposed to be good for you!
My sis-in-law lent me her bottle of Human Nature makeup remover after she read my post, can't wait to try it:)
