Countdown to American Idol
Alright, so my cousin got my American Idol juices pumping again after last season's AI apathy (Kris Allen who?).
This time around, to be perfectly honest, I'm not really excited to see who the next new musical star will be, but I'm majorly itching to see Ellen in the judge's panel! It's going to be a fun fun fun show with Ms. Degeneres on deck trading barbs with Simon Cowell and disturbing the dawghouse with Randy Jackson. Aren't you glad the AI producers didn't pick Posh Spice to replace Paula Abdul?:p
Incidentally, this is also supposed to be Simon's last AI season, so that's all the more reason to stay glued. Read on for the scheduled dates of airing of the audition episodes.
January 12 – Boston

And so who will be the next American Idol? Who knows, but one thing I do know, this is going to be a fabulous season. I heart you Ellen!!

Clems, can I use your father’s connections sa airport to meet Kris? Kung na meet niya yung Davids the last time, will he meet Kris now? (Although wala ng swine flu now, hehe)
Hi Mel-Mel,
He only met the Davids because they skipped the mandatory temperature check-up in the airport. If they followed protocol, hindi sila nagkakilala (naks naman!) ng tatay ko:p
i truly believe that kris allen was a huge factor on why i enjoyed season 8. his idol run still amazes me, from having totally no airtime in the episodes before top 13 to winning the title eventually. im so happy his 1st single is doing GREAT especially in the US and I am looking forward to attending his concert in Manila this February!

I actually like kris allen and paula abdul :) While I'm still scratching my head on how Ellen wound up as a judge as she does not have any background in the music industry, I'm still hoping this season will turn out well. And about Kara, I agree...she can be a bit clueless and I think 3 judges are enough so more time can be spent on the finalists
She may not have the requisite musical background but AI is still ultimately a ratings game, and you have to admit, Ms. Degeneres has a big following. And she's also funny, which is probably why she has a big following.
I guess I can gloss over her lack of musical background because I'm not a big AI fan/purist. It's all just pure entertainment for me:p
Yay! Ellen! She rules the daytime and now, she just might get her break again on the primetime.
Hey, I love Kris Allen! I'm obsessed with him and Adam.
I like Ellen, but I'm not really looking forward to her on this show. I watched her guest hosting stint on So You Think You Can Dance and it was a mess. I hope she is more serious this time. Paula may be crazy, but she is the good kind of crazy. I'll miss her.
And I'm not really sure I can be as invested in this season as I was the past year, because Season 8 is my most favorite season ever. Nothing can top that, methinks. But my early picks have gone on to win the whole shebang the past two seasons, so maybe I'll my streak will continue?

I couldn't find myself liking Season 8 because I was seriously hung over the David vs David season. How could they let go of Michael Johns that early?! See, I'm still affected:p
But maybe letting 1 season pass wil have cured my pain hehehe
The verdict's still out on Ellen as a judge and I sincerely hope that she won't be as bad in AI as she was in SYTYCD, as you claim.
But whatever the results may be, AI will just be something to bide my time with until Glee comes back. Let's go Glee! Hurry up April!
hello melvel! you are right about paula, she's the crazy we need in the show. the original 3 judges was the perfect mix, a ascerbic one in simon, a sensitive one in paula and a gangsta one in randy. why they had to throw in a clueless one in kara dioguardi, i don't know. who would forget her aerosmith foible in last year's rock week? i hope ellen gels better with this panel than sytycd.
i keep saying "this is the best season ever!" each year, but i am surprised over and over!
