Some Cheeky Fun with Lip and Cheek Tints

The first time I voluntarily picked up a blush and swiped some on my cheeks was when Amanda Griffin proclaimed that it was her favorite makeup item and what she puts on when pressed for time. That sealed the deal for me, because if Amanda Griffin endorsed rosy pink cheeks then I had to try it out for myself.
I tend to go for lip and cheek tints because they're easier to apply and don't need any special brushes to use, making them perfect for mid-day touch-ups. Besides, the two in one use means it's more bang for my buck, and c'mon we could always use a little more pocket change.
These days I alternate between three lip and cheek tints: VMV Hypoallergenics' Glow, Becca and Body Shop's . Let's get to the pros and cons of these three bullet points style:
VMV Hypoallergenics Glow (Php500++)
Pros
- natural looking blush, will suit most skin tones
- looks red when swiped but becomes sheer when rubbed on cheeks
- creates a nice shimmery sheen on lips
Cons
- does not last long (specially on my oily skin)

Glow (left) and Beach Tint (right) swiped on hand
Becca Beach Tint (Php1500)
Pros
- nice fresh scent
- mimics a healthy, sun-kissed glow
- medium lasting power
Cons
- expensive!
- does not work well as a lip gloss (doesn't glide well on lips and seeps into lines of lips)
- watery consistency
Body Shop Hot Brights Lip and Cheeks (Php795)
Pros
- sheer finish
- color lasts longest among the three
Cons
- part of a limited edition collection

The best thing about lip and cheek tints is that you don't need to use a lot, a tiny dot is usually more than enough color for both cheeks.
The color also applies on sheerly, so there's none of that fake or streaky look that sometimes happens when you get too heavy handed with a powder blush.
Right now, my favorite is Beach Tint from Becca because of the really nice watermelon scent. The "I just came from the beach" color is also not bad, but the scent is really addicting. Don't say I didn't warn you:p

Is the VMV Glow 500++ only? Is it regular priced?
Hi Macky,
It was P250++ when I bought it last year, 50% off from the usual P500++.
I'm not sure how much it goes for now.
You might want to try it out--I'm obssessed with it! I got the amethyst shade. It might stain your finger a lil but upon application but it can easily be removed by alcohol & tissue. It stays long and it looks natural. It's a keeper.

I've been using their lip & cheek tint for the longest time, but only as a lip tint. I really like the natural stain it gives. Just putting it on my lips already brightens up my face even without a blush.:) I'm on a "tint phase" right now and I just got my orders of Liole Blooming Pop Cheeky Tint and Etude House Fresh Cherry Tint, I'll see how those go.:)
I've never tried it as a lip stain, how's the staying power?
I find the VMV cheek tint very sticky. I think I wasn't able to finish my tube because of that. I used to be a loyal user of Body Shop Cheek Tint. It looked really great but I found it hard to remove the stain that it had been leaving on my finger. Now, I use powder blush instead. It's much easier to blend!
Hi Ojouprincess,
Yeah, the VMV cheek tint is quite sticky nga. I usually end up brushing mineral makeup on top of it just to minimize the tacky feeling. That's also a good way to tone down the redness because I sometimes get too generous with my application:P
One of my go-to lip and cheek stains is the ever-so-affordable one of Herbench (Pretty When Pinched). It's pretty simple to use considering how lazy I am with these things. You should try it too Jill. :)
Hi Jean,
I tried Pretty When Pinched years and years ago when it first came out and i always messed up the application:p The color would quickly set so I was never fast enough in rubbing it in so one cheek would be redder than the other:p
But I think I'll try it again because it's really way cheaper than most cheek tints out in the market :)
I've been a loyal fan of Body Shop's lip and cheek tint since forever but I wanted to try new ones to test which is the best (and because it got more expensive). I guess this post just proves it then. I think I'll go buy mine now :)
Hi Hatsuko,
The lip and cheek tint I have is part of the Hot Brights collection. It also comes with a sheer lip gloss on the other end, so it's a 2-in-1 product.
