Ekāgratā Śālā: Because I Love Yoga!

Contrary to the popular belief that I'm all skin and bones, I actually had a pretty flabby stomach. Yah, you heard that right.

I swear, I could have been a little tadpole for all you know. Skinny body, big stomach. Hehe. I was the most un-toned skinny girl ever! As you can imagine, all I do is sit in front of a computer the whole day. And go out for drinks, occasionally.

But all that changed when my friend Karen decided to take this one month Yoga Instructor Workshop/Program in Boracay last May. When she got back to Manila, she decided to put up her own shala in her house.

And of course, being her friend, we were one of her pioneer students as she became an official yoga instructor. Woohoo!

And ever since then, I've been doing yoga! And it's probably one of the best activities I picked up. You see, I'm the type who never exercises. I tried going to the gym before but gave up on my 3rd week. The gym bores me to death.

Yoga on the other hand, I find it really challenging and fun. And at the same time, it tones my body and makes me feel very healthy! And ever since I started going yoga my chronic shoulder and neck pains lessened, too. OH, and can I just say, my posture is waaaaaaay better now. I used to slouch a lot. Oh, and I have sexy arms now, too, haha!

I've never been to any yoga classes before so I'm pretty biased with Ekāgratā Śālā. But I can definitely tell you that compared to some yoga classes, you'll feel at home with Ekāgratā Śālā. It's not your typical yoga class that you come in to class and try to clumsily follow whatever your instructor is doing, especially if you're a beginner. My friend Karen will make sure that you're doing the poses correctly.

So if you're looking for a comfortable, home-y yoga place, I invite you to come join us in our yoga practice in Ekāgratā Śālā!

Whether one believes yoga to be spiritual or recreational, should the government really be making that distinction for us? And, for that matter, with obesity wreaking havoc on the nation’ s health care system, should the state be discouraging those who...
