Road Testing Clean & Clear's Active Acne Control Kit
I was never a firm believer in product lines as I always saw it as some sort of insidious marketing ploy to trick the consumer to buying into an entire range of overrated products (i.e. "Use X soap with X-1 body scrub to expedite skin whitening, afterwards, slather on X-1.1 body lotion to keep skin radiant and rosy white all over"). So is the Clean & Clear Active Clear Control Kit all hype as well? Read on.
Clean & Clear's bold statement is "In clinical tests, 100% of subjects saw significant improvements in number, size or redness of their pimples as early as day one." And I thought Safeguard's claim of reducing skin germs by 99.9% was already the height of cockiness:p
The Active Clear Control Kit is composed of:
Cleanser- contains bacteria fighting salicylic acid that calms and soothes acne-irritated skin.
Toner- oil-free and made from a combination of salicylic acid and natural botanical ingredients to tone and balance skin, while reducing excess oil.
Moisturizer- oil free and with salicylic acid to heal existing acne while preventing the formation of new ones.
Speed Gel- a highly effective spot treatment that reduces redness, pimple size and swelling in as little as 4 hours.
I was initially apprehensive about using the four step system because I wasn't too keen on exposing my skin to too much salicylic acid. So I did it gradually and first used the Speed Gel on an existing pimple. The following morning, the pimple significantly reduced in size.
Two days later, I washed my face with my regular cleanser and used the Active Clear Acne Control Toner. It had a fresh scent and didn't sting at all, unlike other toners. It also didn't leave my skin feeling raw and taut.
A few days after, I used the cleanser and braced myself for some violent skin reactions. Nada.
By then, I was becoming a convert and took the plunge by using all four products one after the other. I was very anxious over how my skin would react with the moisturizer because historically, moisturizers with acne-fighting qualities have always left my face feeling raw and irritated.
I'm happy to report that I did not suffer from any adverse effects from using all four products. No rashes or irritations AND my pimple scars considerably lightened!
The only flaw I saw in the kit was that the moisturizer did not have SPF so I couldn't use it during the day, which is really a shame because it's perfect for oily skin. But other than that, I really enjoyed using all four products and will definitely stock up once I finish the kit.
So yeah, the cockiness is justified.
