Adarna Food and Culture Brings You Back
Back in the day, we kids would be hauled to my Tita's house in San Juan for Christmas parties and whatnot, and I'd be transported to another decade. A decade of enormous grandfather clocks (extra enormous on account of me being little), wooden planks floors, heavy furniture and capiz windows.
Well we attended an event the other week at a place that really took me back. Let me show you some pics.

Adarna Food & Culture is at 119 Kalayaan Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City. I googled around and found several references, including OAP's's (with far better pics) and so far, we're all pretty enamored.
The food takes you back too, with dishes like Rellenong Bangus (Yummmm!) and Beef Puchero which is a welcome respite from the standard Sisig and Crispy Pata which we pass off as Pinoy Cooking. I mean, don't get me wrong that's yummy and all, but there's so much more to it from what I remember.
It's worth a trip out to QC if only for the pics of all the movie stars and the resulting fun trying to remember which ones are parents and relatives of current ones, etc. As for me, it just brings me back to a time when things were artsy and beautiful, and people seemed to take extra care about how things looked and felt. its like a museum!!!!
Adarna sometimes hold cultural events. There was a Tertulia last June, which I attended and it was so much fun.
oh look, they're on facebook too: http://www.facebook.com/search/?q=adarna&init=quick#/adarnafoodandcultur...
I loved the rellenong bangus! The beef stew was kinda so-so though.
We also tried the Felicidades and it really hit the spot. The spot reserved for milky alcoholic drinks on a workday hehehehe
Wow! I'd like to bring my hubby there! Ü
