Shopping in Hong Kong: Shop Til You Drop
*Cross-posted from Badudets
In Hong Kong, there’s always a sale that awaits you. Hong Kong is a shopping mecca, especially during sale season which runs from July to August. In fact, the Hong Kong Shopping Festival attracts tourists from around the world because of massive sales and incredibly low prices from different shops. But even if its not sale season, most shops offer promos and discounts that keep shoppers happy.
This self-confessed shopaholic can’t help but check out all the shops around the Tsim Sha Tsui area, while Jeff is overwhelmed with the outdoor shops in Mong Kok. Upon checking the tag prices of the items we’re interested in, we knew our wallets will be in deep trouble, the items are cheaper in Hong Kong compared with our prices here and these shopaholics grabbed the opportunity to shop till wallets ran dry.

In Hong Kong, theres always a sale that awaits you.
Shopping in Tsim Sha Tsui:
The Tsim Sha Tsui area is teeming with boutiques and malls in every corner. There’s Harbour City, Silvercord Mall, New World Center and Sogo in the area. Flagship stores of Nike can be found inside Silvercord Mall providing shoppers with 3 floors of Nike sports goods. Don’t forget to visit Sasa perfume stores scattered around the area just like your normal 7-eleven. Perfumes are generally cheap in Hong Kong, so stop sniffing and stock up on those perfumes.
H&M is one shop I look forward to visit in HK, and I’m glad that I won’t have to go all the way to Central in Hong Kong island because their newest shop is located in Silvercord Mall, few minutes away from our guesthouse.

Along Canton Road, there’s a big Esprit Outlet Store, aside from the discounted prices, they even offer 30% discount for every 3 specially marked items bought, great!

Bossinni Outlet Store is located along Granville Road.

You all know how Skin Food beauty products are so damn expensive here in the Philippines, right? Well, there’s Skin Food along Granville Road too and other shops or dispensaries sell them cheaper.

Shopping in Mong Kok:
Electronic gadgets like cameras, laptops, cellphones, gameboys and PSPs are cheaper in Mong Kok. Make sure to compare prices from different stores and check out the freebies that come along with what you buy. For cameras, one reliable camera store in Mong Kok is Wing Shing located in Sai Yeung Choi Street.
The abundance of outdoor shops in Mong Kok is a paradise for mountaineers and sports-minded persons. You can find sports brands other than Timberland, The North Face and Columbia which can be found in the Philippines. Check out Langham Place in Mong Kok, there’s one whole floor of this mall dedicated to outdoor shops like Mountain Hardwear, Mirabell, La Fuma, etc…
I don’t recommend going to the famous Ladies Market in Sai Yeung Choi St. because of the unreasonable expensive prices knowing that tourists flock the night market. Besides, the goods sold in the Ladies Market can also be found in 168 Mall or Tutuban Mall in Divisoria, a lot cheaper too! So, if you’re in Hong Kong, better spend your money wisely and buy designer and branded items instead.
Shopping in Citygate Outlet Mall:
If outlet stores in Tsim Sha Tsui area are not enough, then head to Citygate Outlets where outlet stores of international brand names are housed under one roof. It is easy to go there since it’s adjacent to the MTR Tung Chung Station, you can’t miss this mall especially if you’re going to Ngong Ping 360.
Customer Service in Hong Kong:
What even made my shopping experience in Hong Kong remarkable is the superb customer service given to shoppers. No discrimination based on your looks and no snobbish storekeepers. Heck, they even assist you in the dressing room carrying a pile of clothes and still smile at you even if you won’t get any of those items you tried on after an hour. Do that here in the Philippines and you’ll get snide remarks and frowns from the sales assistants.
So when you’re planning your trip, make sure to bring a bigger luggage to make room for your new purchases and make your vacation hassle-free by booking your Hotel Reservation in Hongkong ahead of time. Be prepared for excess baggage charges and most importantly, from the prying eyes of customs officers waiting for you at the airport. Don’t forget to include the “pasalubong” for friends and relatives in your shopping list!

This article made me look for an airplane ticket to Hong Kong. I have bought various things from Hong Kong, but I did it through the online shopping sites. I bought airsoft replicas and parts and I am curious if there are stores that have that kind of products. Feeling the product in your hands is totally different than looking at pictures and reading review about it.
Hi,
Regarding airsoft products, you can check out Dundas St. in Mongkok, airsoft mecca for hobbyists =)
I agree! Online shopping is convenient and practical, but there's nothing quite like the tactile experience of actual, mall-based shopping :p
Hi! Would very much appreciate if you can tell me where Silvercord Mall is in HK. Thanks!
A link to info on Silvercord mall: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silvercord
Google is your friend :)
For instance, if you are of short and small stature, then a cute or louis vuitton may be right for you.Last, style should also be taken into consideration. There are so many patterns of louis vuitton bags in the market that they can enable you look gorgeous, cute, modish or fresh. The best thing about Monogram Roses Canvas is the amount of versatility to the line-with a Monogram Rubis in every design, material, color, and a bag for every occasion.
Nice shopping trip, it makes me feel envious on the girls who live there, that place looks like shopping paradise to me! I wonder if my blair rewardz program would work there, i would get better bargains by using it. I doubt i will have a special trip just to go shopping, but if i will ever get in the area i will make sure to visit the locations you mentioned.

I'm sorry but I don't know :(
Hi, during the july- august sale, i think the shops have different schedules of their sale period right? Like the super expensive brands, they have their sale earlier? Do you have any idea what dates these might be for this year? Thanks. I've been looking for it the whole afternoon haha.
Hi Jean,
I'm sorry but I don't know the individual sale schedules of the different luxury brands in Hongkong. But if I do find out when the sale will be, I'll definitely give a heads up to all of you :)
where in hk do you think we can find AAA LVs? great article.
When is the best time to go there? Would you suggest to go there 1st week of june? Marami na kayang sale at that time, like gucci chanel and h&m?
The summer sale season is from July-August, and then winter sale is from December to February.
I doubt there'll be a lot of sales in June.
we plan to go to HK on june so is it sale month?
Here's a link on the HK sale seasons: click here
It says that the summer sales are from July-August, while the winter sale is from December-February :)
do you have any idea what dates ang sale kapag december?
If its winter sale that your asking. Its november - December
Now if its summer i suggest you visit Hongkong 1 -2 weeks before the month of june.During these months summertime is approaching so the sale for summer clothing is on.
read your blog =)
so r u telling me that prices from ladies market in hong kong and 168 mall in the philippines are the same when it comes to imitation products?
I think she said the prices in 168 mall when it comes to imitations are cheaper than the imitations in Hongkong :)
Another place to check out in HK is the Fa Yuen Street in Prince Edward! Just a few blocks away from the famous Ladies Market. (You can walk! Really!) I bought super cute boots for only 29HKD that's 180 PESOS!!! I thought it was a joke but surprisingly my boots are still intact! Great bargains here! boots @ the ladies market cost up to 200HKD..geez.. Fa Yuen is a well-kept secret of the locals and I was just fortunate to be accompanied by one.
