Leyende's Sweet Chemistry with SanFo Treats (and Kikay Exchange!)

Right before Typhoon Frank rudely made its presence known in some parts of the archipelago, Neva of Leyende was busy setting up in SanFo Treats Alabang Town Center for the launch of her latest product called Beach Bomb (a his and hers sugarcane based cologne).

This was also Kikay Exchange's first team-up with Leyende (or any company for that matter) for a product launch, so we were really excited to see how it would pan out (check out the fun Liveblogging we had last Friday with Neva).

I personally thought it was a brilliant idea to hold the Beach Bomb launch in SanFo Treats primarily because of two factors:
  1. The food connection- a sugarcane based cologne will be launched in a candy store! How cool is that?! And in keeping with the theme, Neva also brought food scented Leyende products. Yummy.
  2. SanFo Treats is such a cute venue for the launch- unlike the other SanFo Treats stalls, the one in Alabang Town Center is an actual store with cozy chairs and a gazillion sweet things to choose from.

I tried a spritz of the Beach Bomb cologne and found it light and refreshing. It did not have a cloying sweetness to it (unlike most floral and fruit inspired scents) and it seemed like a great scent for everyday use. But aside from Beach Bomb, I was intrigued with Neva's scent library which was composed of about 20 or so base scents which you can mix or match for your very own personalized cologne.
I chose the "Clean cotton" scent because I have a weakness for that fresh out of the shower smell. Forget florals and fruits, just give me a good squeaky clean soapy whiff and I'm yours for the taking. Neva suggested mixing the clean cotton essence with patchouli, for a masculine touch, or lavender, for a more feminine feel. But I eventually decided to just keep it as is, to go with the clean cotton scent all the way. Hopefully, it will end up smelling my all time favorite scent. Another great discovery for that day was SanFo's Bay Area Fizzler. It's a tart drink with a generous dollop of whipped cream on top for only 45p a glass, making it a fantastic alternative to the more expensive gourmet drinks. The fried candybars (served with two scoops of ice cream!) was also an interesting confection, but it seemed too decadent for my taste so if anyone out there has tried it, please tell me all about it and end my curiosity:p

All in all, even with the threat of a super typhoon looming about, it was a great day altogether. I got to hang out with friends, indulged in a lot of sugary treats and reacquainted myself with Leyende products (they all just smell so good!). So how did Sweet Chemistry pan out? Here's what Neva herself said:
It was tiring but fun! got to meet the faces behind the names I interact with online. And of course, the loyal customers who are ever supportive of leyende! Beach Bomb got great feedback -- it was a hit. And I felt all my efforts were worth it just to see the smiles on people's faces when they smelled Beach Bomb. The launch showed me that the saying in Field of Dreams was true, "if you build it, they will come..." In my case, if you believe in what you can do and do something about it, people will come and support you.
Definitely sweet success :) *A bottle of Beach Bomb cologne retails for Php550.00 but is only P450 at the Kikay Exchange Shop! Don't you just love online shopping? :)
