Sony Cybershot T-50

I'm in the market for a new digital camera, which is not to say that I can actually afford one right now, just that I've grown tired of our Konika Minolta and am dying for a new camera. I had the opportunity to test drive a Sony Cybershot DSC-T50 (one of the perks of being admin :p) and was totally floored. Konika what? I want a Cybershot now! Here are some reasons why I love Sony Cybershot:
  1. You can turn it on by sliding a panel at the front of the camera rather than pressing a button. I'm partial to this because I sometimes press the power button when I really intended to take a picture. Of course, that can be attributed to clumsiness on my part but the power and shoot buttons are usually next to each other, hence the missed photo opportunities.
  2. The three inch screen is amazing. No more squinting just to look at an image. And it has a touch panel, rather than the usual buttons, for navigation. Ten thousand pogi points to the Cybershot for making us look high tech :)
  3. There's a slide show feature and you incorporate music and all sorts of viewing modes while looking at your pictures. I personally think that the default sounds are cheesy but you can also upload your own tunes so that takes care of the cheeseball factor.
  4. The resulting pictures are vivid and sharp. This is probably because of the 7.2 megapixel capacity and the double anti-blur technology. Which simply means that you take less migraine-inducing pictures and more picture-perfect, well, pictures.
  5. It has a paint feature that will unleash everyone's inner artist and will enable you to create works of art similar to this:

  7. It has a timer that tells you exactly how many minutes remain before the battery totally dies out on you.
  8. KC Concepcion endorses it.
However, the Cybershot isn't really as perfect as it seems because:
  1. It's quite heavy and bulky for a point and shoot. In this day and age where smaller means better when it comes to gadgets, its heft makes it very unattractive
  2. It costs Php29,999 putting it way, way above my budget :(
Mark my words, you will be mine one day.
