Extreme Kikays
How far would you go to wear your Manolo Blahniks and Jimmy Choos? Apparently, some women are willing to go all the way and have undergone cosmetic foot surgery or cosmetic toe amputation just to be able to fit into those pointy-toed shoes.
I first learned about this phenomenon in the Tyra Banks Show. There was this woman suiting up for surgery and when she was already lying down on the bed, probably waiting for the drugs to take effect, she lovingly cradled a pair of high heeled shoes.
The following day, there was this news bit on collagen injections on the feet. This procedure aimed to prevent the inevitable pain caused by wearing high heels by adding extra cushioning where it mattered most (the balls of the feet). It makes sense really, wearing high heels causes you to be on tip toes with all of your weight supported by the balls of your feet. Hence, it's no wonder that your feet almost feel as if they're on fire after a few hours (or minutes in my case) of wearing those killer heels. Personally, I can deal with the collagen injections because it seems less extreme. But there's just something so wrong with cosmetic foot surgery. This is what usually happens:
...with cosmetic toe amputation surgery, the toe is not usually amputated. Instead, the toe is cut open, some bone is removed and then, the toe is sewed back up. Then, the tip of the toe shrinks. The procedure is similar to the way shrunken heads were made in the Amazon (South America). The skull inside the head was removed, leaving only soft tissue. This procedure usually involves the second toe that may be longer than all of the other toes. Also, this procedure seems less barbaric, brutal, outrageous and repulsive than simply chopping off all or part of a toe.
I never thought I'd say this, but sometimes, there's just a thing as being too kikay.
